LENS Neurofeedback is to the brain what physical therapy is to the body. When a person gets injured, the body will form scar tissue around the injury in an effort to support healing. While helpful, this also decreases mobility. As such, doctors prescribe physical therapy to patients in order to slowly work the muscle and tissue to regain strength and flexibility.
Our brains work in the exact same manner. Injuries occur to all of us at some point either through minor bumps to the head, through exposures to mold, toxins, or medications, stroke, and even due to emotional and psychological trauma. LENS neurofeedback works to match an individual’s brain waves and gently prompt the brain to try new things to help remove stuck patterns and regain full flexibility and functionality.
The LENS, or Low Energy Neurofeedback System, is a unique and effective form of neurotherapy that facilitates changes in people of all ages with a wide variety of presenting issues. As a result, it has the capacity to address numerous symptoms and deficits. It is remarkably effective, and over 85% of people who have used the LENS have benefited significantly from it. Results can be seen quickly, often beginning within the first session, and are lasting.
LENS Neurofeedback is extremely safe. In over 75,000 clients treated with LENS, there has not been a single reported case of enduring negative effects.
LENS neurofeedback is an FDA-certified Class II device. It is 510K exempt. The Class II 510K exempt medical device classification is a less restrictive certification than a 510-K, meaning that LENS is considered by the FDA as safer than the 510-K devices–which includes most other biofeedback and neurofeedback devices.
Additionally, LENS Neurofeedback is one of the few neurofeedback systems supported by the VA.
LENS can help you if you face challenges in many areas, including but not limited to:
LENS neurofeedback is exceptionally effective at reducing of anxiety. Most clients begin to experience improvement within 4-6 sessions. LENS also improves resilience, the ability to handle stress, and helps create a sense of calm in difficult situations.
LENS neurofeedback helps lift depression—sometimes even when it has been resistant to other treatments. Energy and motivation can also increase, and a client may once again experience a positive sense of health and well-being.
In mild and moderate TBI, clarity, concentration/focus, memory, multi-tasking and energy can significantly and quickly improve after LENS Neurofeedback.
LENS neurofeedback decreases impulsivity, distractibility and hyperactivity. The world becomes easier to navigate. Life becomes less of a struggle for the patient and parent.
Because LENS neurofeedback is so effective at treating anxiety, depression and poor impulse control, it can be tremendously helpful for people withdrawing from, and working at staying away from, addictive substances.
Again, because LENS neurofeedback is so effective at treating anxiety, depression and poor impulse control, there is often dramatic improvement in a variety of disorders where these symptoms are present.
Unlike LENS sessions, traditional neurofeedback sessions (1) require conscious effort and attention to stimuli by the client, (2) sessions last 45-60 minutes each, and (3) results are typically attained over 40 or more sessions. On the other hand, LENS does not require any focused attention, and the person does not need to do anything specific during the session. The sessions themselves last between a few seconds and a few minutes. Initial results are typically seen in 1-4 sessions, with the average number of sessions per client of 11. This makes LENS neurofeedback an excellent option for all individuals, including those who are unable to attend for lengthy periods of time and/or who are unable to understand instructions.
LENS Neurofeedback can be a powerful tool to help speed up detox from mold exposure, recover from brain injuries and accelerate therapy. While traditional medical models often encourage individuals to try one treatment at a time, collaborating with other providers for nutrition, detox, and therapy can provide effective results.
